The Sr. High Youth Sunday School is in need of teachers, and does not currently have any sponsors working with Pastor Michael. If you would like to serve in this way, please see Michael Harnish. Please keep this need in prayer, as well.

Feb. 19, 7:30-9am Breakfast fundraiser served in Shady Oak for Weavers Care & Share and Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community Auxiliary. Funds will go towards the purchase of a handicapped accessible bus for use by residents of VMRC. Pancakes, sausage, biscuits, gravy, applesauce, juice and coffee will be available. All are welcome to participate in fellowship and sharing in the needs of the elderly in our community. Meat Sandwiches will also be available for purchase. The Annual Meat Canning is scheduled for February 27 - March 2, 2012 at the Hinton Mennonite Relief Center, Hinton, VA. Virginia Mennonite Conference is responsible to help provide help on Tuesday, February 28. Help is needed from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m. each day. Friday, March 2 is scheduled as a community day and help is especially needed in the early morning. Anyone is welcome to come and help on any day! Funds are needed to purchase turkey for processing and for the ongoing operation of the Relief Center. If you would like to contribute to this project you can send a donation to the: Hinton Mennonite Relief Center, PO Box 519, Dayton, VA 22821. Eastern Mennonite School Open House and Student Visitation Day for students K-12 and their families will take place Friday, February 10, 2012. Students may visit for a half day (8AM-Noon) or a whole day (8 am - 3 pm). Applications are now being accepted for the 2012-13 school, with limited availability in some grades. David Kline, an Amish farmer, naturalist and author will share his passion for creation care and sustainable farming practices at EMU. Kline will speak from 8:30 - 10 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9 in Common Grounds Coffeehouse in University Commons and then at university chapel in Lehman Auditorium from 10-10:30 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 10. Women in Conversation-Join the conversation with other Mennonite women across the country at one of two biennial retreats (April 13-15 in Mt. Pleasant, Pa.; April 27-29 in Hesston, Ks.) jointly sponsored by Mennonite Women USA and Laurelville Mennonite Church Center. Partners in Mission is announcing an immediate opportunity! The Wollega Church in Ethiopia has extended an invitation for a service and learning team, led by Carl Hansen, to help them build a rural satellite campus in Nekempte for Meserete Kristos College, their denominational seminary. Tentative dates are for two to three weeks in March, and the estimated cost per person is $2,000. Sewing Kits for Haiti: You are invited to join the Children's Sunday School department, Kid's Clubs, and Ladies Sewing in a project to put together sewing kits. The fabric bags are being sewn by Ladies Sewing, and the following new items can be purchased and donated to the collection box in the church foyer, or you may take a bag and complete it as a kit. Kids Clubs will assemble kits on March 14 to be distributed through Mennonite Central Committee. www.mcc.org/kits/sewing
